The best of the tattoo and body piercing world will be on show at the Fortezza da Basso from the 4th to the 6th November 2011. During the three amazing days of the convention, 300 world renowned tattoo masters, artists and musicians will enchant the curious audience and all those who love urban trends.
The event is organized by the Firenze Indelebile Association (Indelible Florence Association) and is sponsored by the Region of Tuscany, the Florence Municipality, the Florence Health Centre and Confartigianato (Italian Handicraft Confederation).It will host the most famous tattoo artists from all over the world, including faraway countries such as Taiwan, Indonesia, the United States, China, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, and many more. Among the many initiatives on schedule, a photo exhibition by Lars Krutak, called “Nel regno degli spiriti: tatuaggi magici dall’Asia e oltre” (In the Realm of Spirits: Magical Tattoos of Asia). Many of these pictures were taken in Borneo in January 2011, and they will be accompanied by an exhibition of tribal instruments. On the other hand, the proposal by female artist Viola Von Hell (“Sante peccatrici” – “Women as Blessed Sinners”) consists of a collection of 31 works coming from the Italian scene, made by some of the best female tattoo artists, freely interpreting the images of various female saints. Besides the events and the happenings, the convention will also feature an interesting programme of seminars which, for the first time, will be held within the exhibition. The speech by Andrea Afferni will be the centre of the attention, illustrating the technique of black and white and colour realism, while Oriental art expert Claudio Pittan will run a seminar on traditional Japanese Irezumi tattoos, and on symbols relating to them.
